The research conducted by company CPP, has revealed 10 “hot pointsâ€? in the Great Britain: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Norwich and Edinburgh.
Research has shown, that almost half of people do not know, that they have suffered from a swindle till reception of a bank extract.
«Swindle with credit cards is still serious widespread problem, despite of numerous preventive measures, including introduction of Chip and PIN for struggle against this phenomenon. The level of swindle has grown by 26 % in first half of 2007 in comparison with the same period of 2006 and has reached ?264 million, - marks Zoe Manton, the head of Card Protection, CPP division. - Though people are constantly reminded of necessity to inform on the lost and stolen cards immediately, on the average they do it almost in 10 hours.
British legislators have decided to punish pirates
Written on 15 February 2008 by adminBritish legislators work above the bill, which will force providers to disconnect users, who illegally download films and music, writes The Times. The document is expected to be submitted in second half of February.
The law obliges providers to take measures against the subscribers who have received access to pirate materials. Such users will be notified by e-mail for the first time, put under suspicion - for the second, and for the third - contract will be ripped up.
Providers who will not agree with conditions of three warnings will be punished. Moreover, the information on clients under suspicion should be brought to court.
The largest providers of the country for half-year have been negotiating with the Hollywood studios and distributors for work above the voluntary scheme on copyright protection.
The similar law has already been approved by France authorities. USA providers and rightholders have actively discussed the control of file-exchange networks.
Chinese authorities introduce Internet - censorship

The Ministry of information science of Chinese People’s Republic has informed, new rules will induce operators of video- and audio-sites to place in Internet only positive information which is in line with interests of the society.
According to the new rules, materials of pornographic or slanderous character, and also materials which propagandize violence can’t be published in the World-Wide Web.
It is known that the sites, which for the certain time will work without violations of new rules, can apply for an independent broadcasting on the Internet.
Illegal bug in British prison

Dialogue’s printout of the lawyer Creighton with Harry Roberts, who services the penitentiary for murder of three policemen, was among the documents, officially directed to the lawyer.
The lawyer has told, that “has been deeply shocked”, as tapping and use in court of such conversations breaks both British laws and the European convention on human rights.
Creighton has also stated the suspicion, that practice of prisoner’s conversation tapping is widely spread. Representative of the British Ministry of Justice, in his turn has declared, that department is not informed about such activity.
The group of doctors is tried on charge of murder in Paris

Seven people are accused of negligence, committed in 1980s in the process of manufacture, preparation for use and distribution of growth hormone, used for treatment of people, suffering from various forms of dwarfism.
In 1983-85 about thousand children have got medical treatment in France by growth hormone, which manufacture, presumably, was done without taking all necessary sanitary precautions.
In 1991 it became known about the first victim - the boy died because of brain-attacking illness.
For today it is fixed about 110 fatal cases, and the destiny of other 800 former patients is not still clear.
In February, 2007 the French Office of the Public Prosecutor has demanded trial above several doctors responsible for gathering and extraction of hypophyses, and also for distribution of the product in the given period of time.
American teenager has killed all the family

On the night of Saturday Nicholas Waggoner Browning has shot his sleeping parents and two younger brothers, 11 and 13 years, and then has gone to visit friends.
Having spent a sleepover, Nicolas came back home and called the police, declared that he has found the corpse of the father. The policemen arrested the boy, who has soon confessed the murder. The pistol of the father, from which Nicolas has shot members of the family, has been found in bushes next to a house.
Browning has been taken into custody, and has been refused to be bailed for trial. Even if the boy is arraigned, he is too young, according to the law of the State, to be sentenced to death.
Robbers of the Venezuelan bank have yielded

Having taken money, malefactors were going to leave crime scene, however near the building appeared the police car and they had lock up in the building together with hostages from employees and clients of the bank.
Robbers hold the people for more than a day. During long negotiations local authorities have made the decision to satisfy the requirement of the robbers and to give them an ambulance van. Having taken six hostages, unlucky criminals have disappeared.
However in some hours police tracked down the car and blocked it on a highway to the east from the Venezuelan capital of Caracas.
Robbers have thrown out the weapon and surrendered. None from hostages have seriously suffered.
Czechs have created an efficient system of stolen phones’ blocking
Written on 1 February 2008 by adminCzech police has declared that the new technology of stolen mobile phones’ blocking, launched in the country in October, 2007, has shown quite good results.
6700 stolen mobile have been blocked since last October, informs company Software602, which has created the special system of blocking.
New technology blocks the phone in such a way, that its further use becomes impossible; therefore theft of such device becomes senseless business.
Every year about 20 thousand mobile phones are stolen in Czechia, therefore the police is going to lower the number of thefts with the help of a new technology.
Increase in crime in the Great Britain

However steady growth of number of prisoners in the Great Britain forces authorities to search for non-standard ways.
If in 1997 in prisons of the Great Britain it was totaled about 60 thousand prisoners, for today there are about 80 thousand of them. And the amount of detained by police only for the last year has increased in 13 times: in 2006 police detained 4617 person, in 2007 - about 60 thousand.
Great Britain has the highest share of prisoners among the European countries, and the government is going to increase capacities of the penitentiary systems by 20 thousand places.
Sea pirates became more active
Written on 29 January 2008 by adminThe amount of registered cases of sea piracy for the last year has increased by 10 % in comparison with the last year, is informed in the report of the International Maritime Bureau (IMB).
263 piracy attacks have been registered in 2007, while in 2006 - only 239.
According to IMB’s report, in 2007 pirates became better technically equipped and better armed. So, the amount of attacks with use of fire-arms has increased by 35 %in comparison with 2006, and the amount of wounded crewmen has increased from 17 to 64 person.
For the last year piracy attacks near Nigeria and Somalia have sharply become more frequent. So, near Nigeria coast the piracy has increased in 3,5 times in comparison with 2006 - from 12 up to 42 attacks, 25 of them in area of port Lagos. Near the Somalia coast the cases of piracy have also become frequent more than three times - from 10 to 31 attacks. At that the piracy in this region differed hijacking and taking hostages. In 2007 pirates have stolen 11 vessels, and taken 154 members of their crews hostage.
