Indian “Robin Hood” is killed in skirmish with the police

One of the famous Indian robbers Shiv Kumar Patel, whom the police could not catch within 30 years, is killed in skirmish between members of his gang and police special troops.
The leader of robbers has been wanted for a long time, authorities have put forward more than 200 charges, among which were murder, kidnapping and extortion.
Meanwhile, among local residents Shiv Kumar Patel was known as some kind of Robin Hood because he plundered rich and shared with poor. Besides, the robber, who went into hiding in jungle in the north of the country for more than 30 years, protected the wood from illegal felling and poachers.
Police announced earlier the award for his capture in 500 thousand rupees (about 12,3 thousand dollars).
The police have already compared this firing with the operation of 2004 when other known gangster Kos Munisvami Virappan was killed. For about 30 years he robbed in the south of the country, and also was known for his generosity to poor.
