Explosion in the center of New York on Manhattan
23 July 2007One person died and 16 are wounded as a result of explosion in the center of New York on Manhattan. The explosion which thundered at about six o’clock in the evening local time on a crossroads of 43rd street and Lexington Avenue caused panic in Manhattan streets.
According to the authorities, there was an explosion of a pipe with hot steam. Local police and the ministry of internal security the USA consider that the incident has nothing in common with terrorism.
According to eyewitnesses, explosion was like a convulsion of nature, and all recollected attack on September, 11.
In total 16 persons are delivered in hospital from the place of incident, two persons received serious burns and stay in a critical condition. It is informed that the person, who died as a result of steam line explosion, was an elderly man who died because of heart attack.
Explosion on the Lexington Avenue has left shell-hole about 65 feet in diameter.
In 1989 from similar explosion of a steam line in New York three persons died.
