Half a billion is stolen from a bank in Baghdad
16 July 2007Unknown persons have stolen about 300 million dollars from a bank in the Baghdad trading area Karrada, informs Reuters referring to a local police and bank administration. They have also stolen from a bank 220 million Iraq dinars that is equivalent to 176 million dollars.
The police got to know about the crime from employees of bank who came for work in the morning and discovered the loss.
They have also informed, that the security guards, who were on duty that night, disappeared. For the time being, security guards are the main suspected in a robbery.
Iraqi Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance have appointed the special commission for investigation of the incident.
This robbery is one of the largest in Iraq since 2003.
