Britain can expel the Russian diplomats
13 July 2007British authorities can expel from the country Russian diplomats in reply to the refusal of Russia to extradite businessman Andrey Lugovoy accused by the British in participation of the murder of FSB ex-officer Alexander Litvinenko, writes Daily Telegraph.
Daily Telegraph refers to certain “former diplomat familiar with Russia” who has declared “high probability” that London can expel from the country “some” diplomats of an average and lowest rank. According to a source, such possible step of the British side is caused by that, the British authorities are limited in a choice of effective measures of pressure upon Moscow.
The British embassy in Moscow does not make comments on the information of Daily Telegraph on possible exclusion from the Great Britain Russian diplomats in reply to refusal of Russia to extradite businessman Andrey Lugovoy accused by the British.
As it was informed, Britain has changed classification of the Litvinenko’s case from criminal into political one. The case of Andrey Lugovoy, who is suspected of murder of the former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko, will be investigated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Great Britain.
