Arrested Danilo Chemello, 61, and his Portuguese girlfriend Aurora Pereira Vaz blackmailed about 5 million dollars for the information on the girl.
Chemello and Vaz have been detained in Sotogrande, near Cadiz in southern Spain. As it was established, earlier Chemello was prosecuted by the French police for cruel treatment with own daughter. He has spent 18 months in prison for this crime, informs The Sun.
According to the sources in the Spanish police, Chemello has no relation to the kidnapping, but he stated that he can disclose the location of the girl for monetary award. According to a source, the swindler has simply tried to make profit of a tragic situation of Madeleine’s family.
According to El Pais newspaper, investigation began on June, 8 when Chemello contacted Madeleine’s parents and informed, that he can give them the information about the girl.
4-years Madeleine disappeared on May, 4 from hotel room in Praia da Luz, Portugal, where she was left by her parents who left to have supper. When parents returned, the girl disappeared.
