The Head of the Europol: terrorist threat in Europe is real as never
27 June 2007Danger of terrorist threat in Europe from the side of Islamites is real as never. It was declared by the director of Europol Max-Peter Ratsel.
“Situation is more serious, than ever. Preparation of terrorist attacks is already in the advanced stage. There are evidences”, - emphasized the head of EU police service.
According to him now in Europe the number of fanatical Islamites grows constantly. Terrorist groupings manage rather simply “introduce potential terrorists and their assistants in Muslim communities of the European countries”.
He has called not to be deceived concerning “small number of terrorist attacks” in Europe, as “the public knows nothing about cases which were prevented at the earliest stages”.
The head of EU police service informed, that the number of similar crimes with Europol’s participation grows steadily. “In 2005 there were 40, in 2006 - 60″, - noted Ratsel.
The Europol coordinates operative activity of EU member-states, gathering and exchange of information concerning the activity of the international criminal groupings.
