American couple got 4 years of imprisonment for murder of a Russian boy

American spouses Robert and Brenda Mattni were convicted to four years of imprisonment: they had actually frozen to death their adopted son Victor from Russia.
According to the American mass-media, 43-years old Robert and 42-years old Brenda were convicted to 10 years for cruel treatment of the child in May, 2004, however later this term has been replaced by 7 years.
During the current process the accused have entered into the agreement with the judge, for the first time from the death of the boy having pleaded guilty. In exchange for this the investigators agreed to recommend the court 4-years term of imprisonment. Taking into account the time which they had already spent in prison, they can go at large already this December.
Mettni, the zealous Christians who had four own sons, in December, 1999 adopted six-year old Victor and his two four-year-old brothers-twins. Terrible incident had taken place ten months later: adopting parent closed the boy for all night in not heated cellar as a punishment. Next morning he was delivered to the hospital with temperature 83,12 F and respiratory standstill. Doctors were unable to rescue the boy: he died in two days after hospitalization.
