Five British have returned guilty in terrorist acts preparation
3 May 2007Jury of the British court have passed a verdict of guilty to five citizens of the country in preparation of series of terrorist acts with the use of the explosives made of mineral fertilizers, informs BBC News.
According to the investigators, these people planned to conduct several explosions in the United Kingdom. Among their purposes were large Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, popular London night club Ministry of Sound and even the Parliament building at the moment of the Prime Minister meeting with the legislators.
For preparation of explosions terrorists bought about 1 322,77 lbs of ammonium nitrate and stored it in a warehouse in the West London.
Explosions were prevented due to the British special services which have found this warehouse. Saltpeter was replaced by the safe substance, and British law-enforcement officials watched carefully people attending the warehouse. This way they managed to reveal participants of this terrorist group.
Terrorists have been arrested in 2004. According to Sky News channel, one of them was convicted to life imprisonment.
