US pharmaceutical company killed three persons by an overdose
30 April 2007The American pharmaceutical company has by mistake produced a medicine with tenfold increased effect that caused three deaths in hospital in Oregon State, informed AP.
According to the Texas-based ApotheCure Inc Company, one of factory workers has made a fatal mistake at Kolchizin manufacturing. This medicine was sent in Portland medicine center where three patients received fatal injections of a medication during treatment of back pains.
Kolchizin slows down cell fission, however at excessive dozes it is stoped completely, that leads to internals dying off, as commented the situation the director of Oregon poisoning center Rob Hendrickson.
The American Food and Drug Administration investigates circumstances of people deaths from injections. Hospital in Portland will be closed till the investigation ending.
