Jewelry worth of $800 thousand are stolen from the largest world exhibition.
17 April 2007Unknown persons have stolen jewelry worth of more than 1 million Swiss francs (about $800 thousand) from the largest world hours and bijouterie exhibition Baselworld-2007, taking place in Swiss Basel.
Swiss telegraph agency (ATS) informed on Saturday, April, 14, that the jewelry was stolen on Tuesday - during preparation for Baselworld-2007 which was opened on Thursday, April, 12.
Theft has taken place during the delivery of bijouterie to an exhibition, informed ATS the representative of the Prosecutor Office of Basel Peter Jill, however he has refused to inform about the details of the investigation.
Moreover, other thefts became known already after opening of the exhibition, despite of all advanced security systems established in Basel.
Manufacturers of elite hours and bijouterie came annually to Baselworld from the entire world. This year exhibition in Basel, which will work till April, 19, visited 2109 participants from the 45 countries of the world.
