British legislators have decided to punish pirates
15 February 2008British legislators work above the bill, which will force providers to disconnect users, who illegally download films and music, writes The Times. The document is expected to be submitted in second half of February.
The law obliges providers to take measures against the subscribers who have received access to pirate materials. Such users will be notified by e-mail for the first time, put under suspicion - for the second, and for the third - contract will be ripped up.
Providers who will not agree with conditions of three warnings will be punished. Moreover, the information on clients under suspicion should be brought to court.
The largest providers of the country for half-year have been negotiating with the Hollywood studios and distributors for work above the voluntary scheme on copyright protection.
The similar law has already been approved by France authorities. USA providers and rightholders have actively discussed the control of file-exchange networks.
