Increase in crime in the Great Britain
30 January 2008For the last couple years in the society keep on discussions concerning the possible introduction of the electronic tracking system for criminals: such initiative generates too many doubts of ethical character. However steady growth of number of prisoners in the Great Britain forces authorities to search for non-standard ways.
If in 1997 in prisons of the Great Britain it was totaled about 60 thousand prisoners, for today there are about 80 thousand of them. And the amount of detained by police only for the last year has increased in 13 times: in 2006 police detained 4617 person, in 2007 - about 60 thousand.
Great Britain has the highest share of prisoners among the European countries, and the government is going to increase capacities of the penitentiary systems by 20 thousand places.
