British government concentrates attention on extremist websites

22 January 2008

Home Secretary Jackie Smith has declared intention of the government to close all extremist Internets-sites, writes The Guardian. Search and closedown of the sites connected to terrorists are a part of the governmental strategy on extermination of radical groupings in Great Britain.

Minister is going to meet with representatives of the largest GB’s providers to discuss with them an optimum way of elimination of dangerous sites. According to the data of the Institute for the Study of Middle East mass-media, extremist websites are located on servers of such known Internets-providers as Google, Yahoo and MSN.

The government has made the decision to remove all sites connected to terrorist groupings, in particular, to “al-Qaeda”, after appearance on the Internet pages with threats to the British Prime minister and appeals to creation of English al-Qaeda branch.
