The Mexican drug mafia shoots off musicians: 13 victims for 1,5 years
21 December 2007In Mexican criminal wars between drug mafia gangs perish rockabilly musicians. 13 victims for 1,5 years, and three of them have died for the last two weeks.
All of the murders remain disclosed. The society can only guess about motives of this tragic and frightening tendency, writes The New York Times.
Abduction of the soloist of group K-Paz de la Sierra became one of the most known crimes. He disappeared in the morning on December, 2 in his native state Michoakan. Later a corpse of the singer has been found in suburbs of the state’s capital: criminals have thrown out a body directly on the roadside.
Motives of crimes remain an occasion for conjectures, and there are no proofs that all of them are connected. In some cases it is supposed, that victims have been connected with the criminal world and could be killed by someone from competing gangs.
Sometimes the musician and drug dealer know each other well. Other victims composed so-called narcocorridos, glorifying a life of drug dealers and hired assassins. According to some assumptions, these musicians could wound self-esteem of some of the heroes.
