In Britain drunkenness looms large: Gordon Brown takes action
12 December 2007Police and analytics warn that drunkenness in Britain has taken the sizes of epidemic, and criminal offences on the ground of alcoholic intoxication increase avalanche-like, informs Radio Freedom.
It has induced Gordon Brown to organize a meeting, having invited Ministers of Internal Affairs, Public health services and culture, and also known physicians and heads of the largest alcohol companies.
In result the officials have passed the strategic plan of struggle against drunkenness. Police will be given the right to establish in cities “zones of an increased alcoholic danger” with strengthened patrolling. Work of the police in these zones will be paid by pubs and clubs.
Day time advertising of alcohol and its sale under reduced prices will be forbidden. Punishment for appearance in a state of intoxication in public places becomes tougher.
