United Nations: each third woman in the world is a victim of violence (Part 1)
28 November 2007Each third woman on the Earth suffers indignity and violence, including sexual, is said in the statement made by the United Nations Organization. And this problem exists in all countries, and the violence has various forms.
Results of the international research were made public at the Congress of Council of Europe Local and Regional Authorities in connection with the International day of struggle for liquidation of violence, on November, 25, informs AFP.
“The violence concerning women, including domestic violence, is a serious insult of human dignity”, - has declared the chairman of the Congress Halvdan Skard.
Every day an uncountable amount of women and girls all over the world run the risk of murders, blows and rapes. They are maimed, tortured and sold in sexual slavery.
At that the majority of the survived victims have no hope for justice. And it creates prerequisites for continuation of violence, says UN Commissioner on human rights.
