Switzerland becomes Mecca of death tourism (Part 1)

19 November 2007

Switzerland gains the status of the most popular in Europe “death tourism” direction that is the country with legalized euthanasia. Companies engaged in voluntary killing become more and more popular. At the same time there are many opponents of such practice.

The Swiss laws are the most loyal to such people, and the special organizations are ready to help to die anyone who appeals to them, without respect of nationality.

There are no special law about “mercy killing in Switzerland, and the right to suicide with assistance is in force since 1942.

Authorities insist on two things. First, the person should be really incurably ill (to confirm this person should be examined and give the certificate). And second, none from close relatives, friends, colleagues should be interested in his or her death (family and other circumstances are checked by the organizations giving euthanasia services).

Besides the patient is required to sign the special contract, where it is said that his or her decision to die is taken voluntary and is invariable.
