To get to Japan foreigners will have to give finger prints and a photo
14 November 2007According to new rules, entering Japan foreigners will be obliged to leave finger prints in an immigration police database at the airport.
Since November, 20, 2007 the government of Japan introduces system of obligatory dactyloscopy of foreigners coming to the country, informed the representative of the Ministry of Justice.
“The corresponding law has been passed on May, 24, 2006 within the framework of the governmental work aimed at struggle against terrorism and strengthening of safety of the country”, - explained the representative of immigration service.
The new monitoring system will touch all foreign citizens over 16 years old, including those who have already had the long-term visa to Japan and are going to leave the country temporarily. Innovations will not touch diplomats and “persons invited by Japan government agencies”.
This law is a logic consequence of the large scaled work of the Japan government with the purpose to lower a level of terrorist threat. Some experts explain toughening of the immigration control by that fact that the majority of crimes in the country are committed by foreigners.
