British will reconsider the space law
8 November 2007British government has ordered to reconsider Outer Space Act, passed in 1986, informs The Sunday Telegraph. This statutory act is a legal basis for activity of British in space.
Necessity of new rules of law development has arisen in connection with the plans of some private companies to start the space tourism activity in the nearest future. They will offer the clients space travel at reasonable enough prices.
The law should determine working conditions of such companies, and also rules of behavior in an orbit. It is expected, that the British will be forbidden to throw out waste products in a space and to cause any damage to space bodies. Besides, the law will contain an article, concerning criminal offences in space.
Virgin Galactic, founded by British Richard Branson, plans to start space tours in 2009. For 200 thousand dollars passengers will be lifted at a height of 130 kilometers.
American company Space Adventures is also going to offer similar services.
For today only РоÑ?коÑ?моÑ? (Russian Space) has sent some tourists to ISS. The price of such flight makes approximately 20 million dollars.
