7 hostages are released in Nigeria
24 October 2007All seven hostages in Nigeria, among whom there were three foreigners, were released on Monday, October, 22, informs Reuters referring to the statement of the local government.
According to the agency three foreigners, have been abducted by malefactors after the armed incident in a oil-products area belonging to company Royal Dutch Shell.
According to Reuters, security guards of foreigners have started firing with unknown persons. However they didn’t mange to defend the wards - captured were taken away on motor boats in an unknown direction, informed a source in Royal Dutch Shell’s security service.
Cases of abduction of foreigners in Nigeria are frequent. Sometimes separatists are behind these attacks, trying to put pressure upon authorities of the country. However more often abductions are made for the sake of a profit.
