Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs will toughen punishment for purchase of children’s porno: 247 sites are closed for half a year
8 October 2007Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs suggests to toughen punishment for purchase and storage of pornography with the participation of minors.
As has declared to journalists Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nikolay Ovchinnikov, speaking at the round table in Runet, the ministry has prepared proposals on alteration of the legislation including toughening of sanctions for illegal distribution of pornographic materials, criminal responsibility for purchase and storage of pornographic materials with participation of minors without the purpose of distribution and advertising.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2006 246 crimes have been registered in territory of Russia, and stopped activity of three porno-studios. Now the legislation of the Russian Federation provides for punishment till 8 years of imprisonment.
According to “Interfax”, Russian law-enforcement bodies have directed 41 reports to law enforcement bodies of the foreign states about finding in their domain zones 107 sites containing children’s porno.
According to independent experts, during the last year the amount of pornographic materials in the Web has increased in one and a half times, attendance of pornosites on the average makes more than 30.000 people in a month.
The overwhelming majority of sites are outside Russia and belongs to, first of all, USA.
