South Africa has issued a warrant to arrest the president of Interpol

South African Republic has issued a warrant to arrest the president of Interpol, who simultaneously takes up a post of the Interpol’s president, Jackie Selebi, writes The Times referring to South African broadcasting company SABC.

According to the mass-media, the warrant was issued the last week. Selebi, as asserts SABC, is accused in connection with the criminal groups in Southern Africa. On Thursday, September, 27, Interpol’s president declared, that knows nothing about the decision to arrest him.

Local political scientists mark, that Jackie Selebi was is involved in strict political confrontation with participation of the Prosecutor’s Office of the South African Republic and the local Ministry of Justice. The head of the police in the country is reproached with inability to cope with criminality.

According to mass-media, Selebi has already been under investigation of Scorpions division (analogue of the American FBI). Those events had taken place in September, 2005 when his close friend Glenn Agliotti (who is considered to be one of the largest drug-dealers) was arrested on a charge of murder.
