Mexican narco-baron has got a life sentence
20 September 2007Mexican narco-baron Francisco Xavier Areliano Felix in circuit court of the United States has pled guilty in running of criminal business and plot with the purpose of money-laundering.
Narco-baron has confessed to management Tijuana narcocartel, which has imported to the USA hundred tons of cocaine and marihuana and laundered hundred millions dollars.
These confessions Areliano Felix has made in exchange for refusal of the prosecution to seek death sentence, having replaced it for life imprisonment. A part of the bargain became confiscation 50 million dollars and a yacht where he was caught in August, 2006. The sentence was passed on fifth of November.
During the process the Mexican side insisted on abolition of capital punishment.
Narcocartel Tijuana has been managed by seven brothers and four sisters. However Francisco’s brother Ramon was killed in 2002 in firing with police, and one more brother, Benjamin, is imprisoned in the Mexican prison. As it is informed, influence of the cartel has waned in recent years.
