In Medina rebelling teenagers have grabbed a colony
18 September 2007Revolt in a children’s colony has taken place on Saturday, September, 15, in Medina (Saudi Arabia). More than hundred teenagers have demanded amnesty on the occasion of the Muslim post which has begun this week, informs newspaper Riyadh.
Teenagers have armed with kitchen pots and pans, parts of furniture, bottles and phials from medicines, have turned out from the room their tutors, barricaded on the top floor of the colony building and demanded liberation, writes the newspaper.
In suppression of the revolt participated more than hundred representatives of law enforcement bodies, special troops and firemen. Storming the building they have used tear-gas.
The management of the colony has compromised and promised, that within the next few days the list of amnestied will be expanded.
According to local press, the main offences of minors are larceny, contempt of the moral and use of alcoholic drinks contrary to sharia prohibition.
