Thailand has sentenced to death the murderer of Russian tourists
6 September 2007The criminal who on February, 24 killed two Russian tourists on the Thai resort Pattaya, has been sentenced to a death penalty. The verdict has been announced at sitting of the city Pattaya court, province Chon Buri in 106 mi to a southeast from Bangkok.
“The accused 24-years old citizen of Thailand Anuchit Lampert was conviction on five clauses: an attempt of the armed robbery, murder with the purpose to conceal traces of the crime, illegal possession of the weapon, use of the weapon in a public place and use of drugs”, - informed ITAR-TASS the employee of a consular department in embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand.
The accused has silently listened to a verdict and refused to make any comments. According to the Thailand laws the condemned has the right to appeal in higher organs.
The embassy of Russia in Thailand actively cooperates on questions of investigation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the state and management of the police. Employees of the Russian consular department were present at all sittings of the court. Diplomats have also rendered comprehensive assistance to relatives of the victims.
