The European Community will simplify rules of liquids transportation
30 August 2007New rules, allowing passengers from the third countries to transport liquids as hand luggage come into force this autumn in all EU member-states, informed press-service of the Eurocommission.
New rules will touch airports of those countries which will be able to meet EU standards.
Earlier, according to the instruction of the EU’s executive authority, which came into force on November, 6, 2006, transit passengers were obliged to hand over liquids and alcoholic drinks got in shops behind the check-outs.
Acting today at the airports restrictions provide also that each passenger can take onboard no more than one liter.
According to the EU information, only in one Amsterdam airport security service seize every week about 1600 liters of alcoholic drinks and products of the perfumery industry.
Passenger air transport safety requirements in EU member-states have been toughened after prevention in August of the last year series of terrorist arracks by London police. Terrorists have tried to carry onboard liquid explosive in drinking tanks.
