EU introduces blue card for immigrants
14 August 2007EU introduces blue cards for highly skilled labor force from the countries which are EU members.
Legislative enactments, necessary for introduction of “blue card”, will be submitted for approval to the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the EU member-states this September.
The blue card will allow its owners to work in all EU countries. The purpose of its introduction is to solve the problem of highly skilled staff shortage in a number of branches of economy and social security of the EU member-states. In the future EU is going to recruit doctors, engineers, scientific researchers, experts in the field of computer equipment and to provide them with blue cards.
The owner of a blue card can move to other country after completing the fixed contract in the presence of another vacancy. Thus the blue card does not give the right to a constant residence in the EU and also to an unlimited on time labor contract.
One of blue card’s advantages is that it will be valid within five years after returning home from the EU. Therefore owner of a blue card can return back to the EU at any moment within these five years if there is a vacancy for him.
